AI In Elections : USA Presidential Elections 2024

In this article I will explain AI in elections how it will affect in next presidential election which is held in united states of America in November 5, 2024⁩. In current time AI tools have become more common and powerful recently.

AI can help society and election offices but can also spread fake information faster you all have heard many fake news.

Which could hurt fair elections if misused. In many country recently many country has effected by AI in election and also faces losses.

While they don’t create new security risks, AI can make current threats grow faster and work better.

How Can AI Be Used In Elections?

  • Deepfakes: We all know AI can make fake videos and spread false info, especially on social media. This can create fake stories, copy candidates, and fool people. For example, a fake audio clip of Joe Biden was used in calls to voters in New Hampshire, telling them not to vote 🤪. Experts think this is a big danger to fair elections and people’s trust.
  • Election Interference: AI can be used by both local and foreign groups to mess with election systems, like voter databases and voting machines. It can also influence voters opinions. In 2016, international hackers used AI to hack the democratic national committee’s network and spread doubt about the election. Mainly it will use by social influencer
  • Algorithmic Bias: AI systems can be biased, which means they might accidentally favor some candidates or parties and ignore others, potentially leaving out certain groups of voters.
  • Privacy Concerns: AI handles a lot of sensitive data, like voter info and political preferences, making it a target for cyberattacks. Data breaches can lead to issues like identity theft or harassment, similar to the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where personal data from 87 million Facebook users was misused for political ads.

Here are some example how political parties can use AI in election

Before the Democratic National Convention, Trump shared a fake image of someone who looks like Vice President Kamala Harris speaking at what looks like a communist rally in Chicago, with a red banner showing a communist symbol. This is one example of how AI in elections can be misused to spread false narratives.

Former President Donald Trump also shared a fake video of himself dancing next to Elon Musk, who supports him, even though it never happened. This is another case where AI in elections is used to create misleading content that can trick voters.

Just before the convention, he posted a Taylor Swift AI deepfake image in an Uncle Sam outfit, pretending she endorsed his campaign, but she never did. These are some of the ways Trump uses AI-generated deepfake images and videos, like the Taylor Swift AI deepfake, to attack opponents or make it look like he has support, showing how AI in Elections can influence public perception.
